Colored Pencil Paintings and Drawings

Many people may not realize that colored pencil is a fine art medium.  Below you will find some of my drawings and/or paintings in this versatile and expressive art form.  For more information on colored pencil as a fine art, please visit the Colored Pencil Society of America web site. CPSA was instrumental in the setiing of lightfastness standards in color pencil manufacture.  I use Derwent Signature pencils, Prismacolor Artist's Soft Lead pencils, and Caran D'Ache Pablo pencils for my work.  My favorite support is Stonehenge vellum-finish paper, a nice 90 lb. weight 100% rag acid-free paper that accepts colored pencil wonderfully.  Colored pencil is a wonderful medium for all styles, from a traditional painterly look, modern-style illustration and traditional botanicals.
